Dear Friends,

For those of you who have been following the construction of the P-51 Mustang Pedal Plane that I have been building, here are some photos of the construction process and the final result.  Plans for the project are available through the EAA book store.  There are several different designs.  Besides the P-51, there is a Christen Eagle design, a Gee Bee racer, and a Pietenpol among others.  The plans are $20 and include a detailed set of instructions as well as full size patterns for all of the parts.  All of the material used in the construction can be found at any hardware store.  I spent about 120 hours over 3 months on the project.  The results are better than I expected and it's a big hit with my three year old grandson.

Here are some photos:

Fuselage is 3/16 in. plywood
Cowling is sheet aluminum
Prop is 3" PVC drain pipe cut into quarters

Finished project.

Pilot with a P-51 grin.

The project has been a lot of fun, but now it's time to get back to work on the Pietenpol
