From May's meeting/Summer BBQ-  Will Sparkman hosted the Chapter's summer barbecue in his hangar again, this year. Most enjoyably, Bill Daubenberger cooked-up the entrees. Skip Ruhe gave an interesting talk about the history of Chapter 1279, effectively conveying the spirit of its founder, Rod Dunfield. Afterwards, he presented a nice plaque to Steve Williamson, 'current' Chapter president, in recognition of his ongoing leadership and dedication to the Chapter. We were also treated to a couple landings by some folks in their B-25. Mmmm, big radial engines, aahhh!

6/11-   Don Evans sent in 'before' and 'after' photos of his Commander, yesterday. Apparently, extensive modifications have resulted in a higher cruise speed and greater payload. Don also went with a complete makeover of the interior, adding a full IFR panel, two seats, and a large baggage compartment. Just kidding!  Click here for more photos...

6/03-  EAA Chapter 1279 and Friends of Fallbrook Community Airpark put on another successful Young Eagles rally on Saturday, May 20th, which was Armed Forces Day. The two groups have collabor-ated for several years to give children the opportunity to ex-perience the fun of aviation from the front seat of a plane like a Lancair or Piper. All the pilots had their own individual first-flight experiences, and they've enjoyed being part of the kids' chance to fly in turn. This rally in particular was the latest in the ongoing effort by Don Evans, his group of volunteers, and all who pitched-in to make the kids' experience special. (read more)

5/28-   Ron Hull's RV-7A is progressing, here are some new pictures.

-- Pancake Breakfast Cancelled --

After several years at the event, Chapter 1279 will not be serving breakfast at this year's airshow at Hemet-Ryan Airport. So far, the County hasn't removed the reference from their website, but don't be misled. Please direct all inquiries to the webmaster.

Instead of serving breakfast, 1279 will be hosting a vendor booth to promote our Chapter and distribute EAA brochures and promotional items. We'll be displaying photos taken at our Chapter Pietenpol workshops, Young Eagles rallies, etc. See you there!
