From May's
meeting/Summer BBQ- Will
Sparkman hosted the Chapter's summer barbecue in his hangar again, this year. Most enjoyably, Bill
Daubenberger cooked-up the entrees. Skip Ruhe gave an interesting talk
about the history of Chapter 1279, effectively conveying the spirit of its
founder, Rod
Dunfield. Afterwards, he presented a nice plaque to Steve Williamson,
'current' Chapter president, in recognition of his ongoing leadership and
dedication to the Chapter. We were also treated to a couple landings by
some folks in their B-25. Mmmm, big radial engines, aahhh!
| 6/11- Don Evans sent in 'before' and 'after' photos of his Commander, yesterday. Apparently, extensive modifications have resulted in a higher cruise speed and greater payload. Don also went with a complete makeover of the interior, adding a full IFR panel, two seats, and a large baggage compartment. Just kidding! Click here for more photos... | |

After several years at the event, Chapter 1279 will not be serving breakfast at this year's airshow at Hemet-Ryan Airport. So far, the County hasn't removed the reference from their website, but don't be misled. Please direct all inquiries to the webmaster.
|
Instead of serving breakfast, 1279 will be hosting a vendor booth to promote our Chapter and distribute EAA brochures and promotional items. We'll be displaying photos taken at our Chapter Pietenpol workshops, Young Eagles rallies, etc. See you there!
